Volkswagen approached us with a request to create an augmented reality showcase to promote the debut of their newest sedan, the Arteon.
The campaign included the need to create both motion and still imagery of the vehicle. The decision was made to utilize lights, mirrors, and a futuristic vibe.
The still imagery was made into large format prints and hung at a gallery showing. The motion content was utilized for the augmented reality experience.
The augmented reality component was broken into several different experiences that differed foreach image displayed at the gallery.
In addition to putting the augmented reality experience on several iPads that were handed around during the event, the experience was also made as shareable link on Facebook.
As a patron held up their device to one of the art gallery images, it would open up a portal to showcase additional artistic content. This ranged from three dimensional models of the Arteon sedan, to behind the scenes footage of the shoot that created the imagery. Each portal was different, and encouraged users to walk around and discover hidden easter eggs.
